Majority Of Americans Think Biden Is Mentally And Physically Unfit For Office: POLL

A majority of Americans believe President Joe Biden is both mentally and physically unfit to serve effectively as president, according to a new George Washington University and YouGov poll.

When asked how well the statement, “has the mental soundness to serve effectively as president” applies to Biden, 41.7 percent of Americans said “not well at all,” while 20.3% said “not too well,” according to the George Washington University and YouGov poll released Monday. Americans surveyed thought higher of former President Trump when asked how well the same statement applies to him. 46.1 percent said “extremely well” or “quite well.”

Of those asked how well the statement “is in good enough physical health to effectively serve” applies to Biden, 42.7 percent said “not well at all” and 22.1 percent said “not too well,” the poll shows. Respondents were also asked how well the same statement applied to Trump. 26.8 percent said “not well enough” and 19.1 percent said “not too well.”

Under Biden’s leadership, 67.9 percent said things in the country are “off on the wrong track,” the poll shows. About 44% said they are now in a worse financial situation than they were a year ago, though 40.1 percent said they are in the same situation financially.

The survey was conducted between Nov. 9-15 and sampled 1694 adults across the country. The margin of error is 2.8%.

While questions about Biden’s fitness for office continue, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Monday the administration will not be adjusting its strategy even though his poll numbers continue to sag. The president has faced criticism from within his own party as his allies raise concerns he may not be able to win the 2024 race. David Axelrod, former President Obama’s senior adviser, previously said he believes the president has a “50-50 shot” at winning the 2024 presidential election, even going as far as to say that the president should drop out of the race.

Other allies of the president are begging those within the Democratic party to stop criticizing Biden and instead help the president salvage his poll numbers, the Hill reported.

“We gotta pipe down the moaning and groaning and all the whining. There’s too much of that,” former Democratic New York Rep. Joe Crowley told the Hill. “I think that leaches into the psyche of the voters as well. That’s got to stop and I think at that point, you’ll start to see Biden’s numbers improve, certainly amongst Democrats, but I think voter-wide they’ll start to improve.”
