Marjorie Taylor Greene says there isn’t ‘any daylight’ between Speaker Johnson and Pelosi – Washington Examiner

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) compared House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), claiming that there is not “any daylight” between the two politicians.

The Georgia congresswoman’s comparison comes as she has ramped up her criticism against the House speaker, filing a motion to vacate last month. In a phone interview conducted Wednesday, Greene argued that Republicans are fed up with lawmakers who “continue the same old crap everybody’s tired of.”

“There’s not even any daylight between him and Nancy Pelosi at this point,” Greene said.

Greene also claimed that Johnson has become Senate Republican Leader “Mitch McConnell’s twin,” and referred to the House speaker as a Democrat.

Johnson and Greene are set to speak to each other on Friday, which will be the first time the two have discussed her frustrations outside of text messages. Greene, a vocal ally of Donald Trump, has not confirmed if she has discussed her push to oust Johnson with the former president.

Johnson has acknowledged that Greene and other Republican lawmakers are frustrated with the leadership in the House, as House Republicans have a very slim majority. However, he stressed the need for there to be unity in Congress, and encouraged Republicans to stand together ahead of the 2024 elections.

“So we’re going to have everyone working together,” Johnson said in an interview Monday. “We’ll work on consensus and keep this team. Marjorie knows how high the stakes are for the country. We all do.”

The Washington Examiner has contacted Greene’s office for comment.
