Mark Levin calls Matt Gaetz a ‘POS’ amid fallout of historic House speaker ousting

Conservative commentator Mark Levin has slammed House Republicans for their move to oust Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from the role of House speaker, the first time of its kind in the history of the United States.
Levin’s chief criticism was of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), the initiator of McCarthy’s ousting. Levin referred to the Florida congressman as a “POS demagogue” who lied to Congress. The commentator also claimed that Gaetz is “working with the Marxists in the Democrat Party” while Gaetz accused McCarthy of being “the Democrats’ speaker.”
ALL THE THING THE HOUSE CAN’T DO WITHOUT A SPEAKER
“Gaetz is a POS demagogue who repeatedly lied during the House floor debate yesterday, and then, of course, simultaneously was fundraising and collecting email lists on behalf of the people,” Levin wrote on social media. “He insisted that the House failed to bring up 12 separate appropriations bills. The fact is they could not get them out of committee because Democrats wanted to spend a great deal more, which would have blown up the budget further, and conservatives opposed the bills. It had nothing to do with a refusal by McCarthy to oppose regular order.”

Additionally, Levin argued that the Florida congressman is portraying himself as “David taking on Goliath” but that he is actually “the favorite Republican of the Democrat Party and their media.”
With McCarthy out of the speakership, the search for the House’s new speaker is underway. Some Republican lawmakers have pitched the idea of former President Donald Trump as House speaker, who is currently running for president in the 2024 election. While some have scoffed at the idea, fellow 2024 presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy stated Wednesday the idea “isn’t crazy” and that Congress needs “to shake things up.”
Trump dodged questions on Wednesday on the possibility of serving as House speaker, stating that he is leading “by like 50 points” in the presidential race and that his focus “is totally on that.”
Comedian Roseanne Barr, meanwhile, has jokingly offered to serve as House speaker in the wake of McCarthy’s ousting in the role.

McCarthy was ousted as House speaker in a historic 216-210 vote, which saw eight Republicans join all present Democrats in the motion to vacate. The former speaker has said he would not seek the speakership again.
House Republicans plan on voting for a new House speaker on Oct. 11. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced Wednesday that he will run for the role of speaker, with Reps. Jim Banks (R-IN), Thomas Massie (R-KY), and Mike Carey (R-OH) saying they would back Jordan.
