McConnell to announce Senate retirement after seven terms – Washington Examiner

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), the longest-serving party leader in Senate history, will announce his retirement on Thursday.

McConnell, first elected to the upper chamber in 1984, will deliver the announcement in remarks from the Senate floor, according to the Associated Press. Thursday marks McConnell’s 83rd birthday.
