McDonald’s set to open coffee-focused location ‘CosMc’ very soon

The next big move from McDonald’s is about to be made as a new location primarily focused on serving coffee and other cafe-type beverages will be opening very soon.
The new location, located in Bolingbrook, Illinois, will be titled CosMc, named after a mascot McDonald’s once used a few decades back. Photos taken by locals that were shared online indicate CosMc will focus heavily on using the location’s drive-thru option, and menu items showcase teas, lemonades, and a variety of baked goods that will be sold at the location, according to a report.

CosMc being opened in an area close to Chicago is likely due to the headquarters of McDonald’s being based in the city. The iconic fast food chain revealed its plans to open CosMc in July, when the company’s sales went up over 10%.
“CosMc’s is a small-format concept with all the DNA of McDonald’s, but its own unique personality,” McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said.

The move by McDonald’s to open CosMc could pave the way for the fast food chain to compete against major coffee chains such as Starbucks, as McDonald’s already serves coffee and several breakfast sandwiches. Earlier this year, McDonald’s revealed three pastry items that it used to offer, including apple fritters, blueberry muffins, and cinnamon rolls, would be discontinued.
