Megyn Kelly speaks out against those rushing to draw conclusions about Russell Brand

Megyn Kelly criticized those who have rushed to draw conclusions about the sexual assault allegations facing podcaster Russell Brand.

Kelly, the host of the SiriusXM The Megyn Kelly Show, noted that there is “a division” in regards to the response to Brand’s accusations, with many people siding with the comedian because they’re “sick of seeing men’s careers completely demolished based on anonymous allegations.”

Kelly suggested that people “keep an open mind” rather than immediately jump to Brand’s defense, adding that there is “a lot of evidence” in this case.

“And we should not change ‘believe all women,’ which was absurd, into ‘believe no women,’ which is equally absurd,” Kelly said.

“I have had women texting me and contacting me privately now for the past three days in tears,” she continued. “Women who are more conservative leaning, or who are at least moderate liberals, who felt a new alignment with a lot of these guys on the Right who are commenting on this, especially in the digital lane, and feel very upset and angry that there are so few voices at least saying, ‘Let’s keep an open mind.’”

Kelly also noted that one of Brand’s alleged victims was 16 years old when she was allegedly assaulted by Brand and that some people jumping to Brand’s defense have questioned “where’s her responsibility in this.” Kelly argued that taking such a stance runs counter to how many conservatives have spoken out against minors making permanent health decisions regarding their gender.

“Bulls***!” Kelly said. “Be consistent! The whole thing is upsetting me because of the players who are involved.”

YouTube announced Tuesday that it blocked Brand from profiting off its platform in response to the accusations the comedian faces, which YouTube said was because Brand’s channel violated its “creator responsibility policy.” Kelly spoke out against YouTube’s decision, stating that she did not think Brand’s ability to make money off of his content “should be cut off on cases that are 10 years old.”

Kelly added that Brand ought to be given more time to overlook the accusations he faces instead of just eight days.

Beyond YouTube, other media outlets have taken down content featuring Brand, including BBC and Channel 4, a British television network. Most recently, Paramount+ removed a 2009 comedy special starring Brand.

Four women have accused Brand of sexual assault allegations, according to multiple reports. Police in the United Kingdom have also stated they will investigate the allegations.

Brand released a video response on social media “absolutely” rejecting any of the allegations. In a video that was nearly three minutes long, he described the claims as “extremely egregious and aggressive attacks.”

Brand also stated that he has postponed all of his comedy shows. “We are postponing these few remaining addiction charity fundraiser shows. We don’t like doing it, but we know you’ll understand,” Brand’s management said.
