Former first lady Melania Trump said the two attempts against the life of her husband former President Donald Trump have affected how she campaigns for him.
With a week left until the election, Melania Trump appeared on Fox and Friends on Tuesday to explain how she has seen how “dangerous” the campaign has become since 2016. As the Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump was shot in the ear while rallying in Pennsylvania and stalked by another armed man while he golfed in Florida.
“It is different. It is much more dangerous, and I am very vigilant and very selective where I go, what I do, because, you know, you never know,” she said. “It’s very dangerous out there.”
Melania Trump has made rare campaign appearances, with her first fundraiser for her husband’s 2024 campaign happening in April of this year. It was hosted by the GOP LGBT group Log Cabin Republicans. At that point, the former president had been campaigning for reelection for almost a year and a half.
Most recently, Melania Trump appeared alongside her husband in Madison Square Garden on Sunday, saying she was there because she loves the “incredible place” that is New York City. She acknowledged that when her husband is on the campaign trail and she stays back, she can never anticipate what sort of phone call she’ll receive or “what can happen in life.”
