A judge in Tennessee ordered the termination of former NFL star Michael Oher’s conservatorship with the Tuohy family Friday amid the highly publicized battle between Oher and the Memphis couple.
Oher was taken in by the Tuohys while he was in high school, a story that gained national attention with 2009’s The Blind Side, after which an agreement was reached granting Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy power over Oher’s financial situation, according to a report.

Shelby County Probate Court Judge Kathleen Gomes terminated that 2004 agreement but did not dismiss the case between the Super Bowl champion and the Tuohys.
Oher wants the couple to bring forward an account of the money they received as part of the agreement, and he alleges they used his name, image, and likeness to gain financially after lying to him in order to get him to sign the agreement when he was 18, the report noted.
He reportedly thought the agreement meant they were adopting him.
Under Tennessee law, a conservatorship strips an individual’s power to make financial decisions for themselves, and it is frequently used when an individual suffers from a medical condition or disability.
In the case of Oher, the agreement was approved “despite the fact that he was over 18 years old and had no diagnosed physical or psychological disabilities,” according to his petition.

“I cannot believe it got done,” Gomes said, remarking that she had never seen terms like the ones in Oher’s conservatorship in her 43-year career.
As Gomes made the decision, both Oher and the Tuohys listed via video conference, but neither party spoke.
