More voters in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state for 2024, want to see former President Donald Trump in next year’s presidential race than President Joe Biden, according to a new poll.

The Republican front-runner has 31% of voters supporting him when asked which candidate Pennsylvania voters would like to see in the 2024 election, a new quarterly poll released Thursday from the Commonwealth Foundation shows. Biden sits at 28% among voters, with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) trailing the president at 21%.

Despite Trump’s hold in the state, his ratings dropped by three points from the last quarter survey conducted by the Commonwealth Foundation, compared to Biden dropping one point. Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy saw the largest increase, rising nine points and now sitting at 19%. Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) all saw their poll number rise as well.

Trump’s victory in Pennsylvania in 2016 helped deliver him the White House, beating the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, by less than 2%. In similar narrow margins, Biden took back Pennsylvania in 2020, leading Trump by less than 2%. Pennsylvania is expected to play an outsize role in electing the next president in 2024, with most national polls showing the hypothetical match-up in a dead heat.

Among the issues where Biden is struggling to win over voters in the swing state, Pennsylvanians cite the president’s economic agenda as a reason for concern.

Pennsylvania voters listed inflation and the cost of living as the biggest issue facing the nation, with the economy tied second among other threats. A staggering 47% of respondents say they believe Biden’s policies are making the Pennsylvania economy worse.

“Despite President Biden’s claims that our economy has bounced back, Pennsylvanians remain deeply concerned about their financial well-being and economic future,” said Jennifer Stefano, the Commonwealth Foundation’s executive vice president. “When evaluating candidates for state and federal offices, Pennsylvanians will seek policies that promise relief from inflation and a path toward a more economically secure future.”
