Nancy Pelosi blames ‘revisionist history’ despite video of her taking responsibility for Jan. 6 – Washington Examiner

Despite being heard directly on video talking about it, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) blamed former President Donald Trump and his supporters for trying to make “revisionist history” over the lack of security during the Jan. 6 Capitol protest.

Pelosi responded to newly unearthed video that was shot by her daughter that day for a documentary of her saying “I take responsibility,” referring on Jan. 6, 2021, to not having more security at the Capitol ahead of the protest. Trump has insisted that Pelosi turned down an order for 10,000 troops on Jan. 6, claiming that this would have prevented the violent protest.

🚨 Since January 6, 2021, Nancy Pelosi spent 3+ years and nearly $20 million creating a narrative to blame Donald Trump.

“Well because of the, the fact is that the president of the United States, the former president and his ‘toties’ do not want to face the facts,” Pelosi said on MSNBC’s Deadline: White House when asked about the newly released footage. “They’re trying to do revisionist history on Jan. 6, but we cannot let us be dragged into their, again, false impression of what happened that day. They know what happened that day, they know how serious it is and was, and continues to have an impact on our country, and yet they want to call the people who were in there hostages.”

Pelosi then claimed that Trump chose to not send in the National Guard “for hours” and has since tried to deny that “any of it happened.” She proceeded to call for unity across the country to honor the founders of the United States.

Trump previously stated in an interview with NBC News’s Kristen Welker last year that Pelosi was “in charge of security” and that she turned down security ahead of his rally on Jan. 6. Welker argued that Pelosi lacked the executive power to call in the National Guard, to which Trump denied.

Pelosi referred to these claims from the former president as “projection,” and that projection is what he has always been about.

Last week, three House Republicans, Reps. Chip Roy (R-TX), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), and Thomas Massie (R-KY), sent a letter demanding that Attorney General Merrick Garland turn over a detailed account of every Jan. 6 criminal case. The lawmakers also asked for a comparison between Jan. 6 sentences and those of “similar criminal convictions” not related to the Capitol protest.
