Rep. Nancy Pelosi (R-CA) fired back at former President Donald Trump after he blamed her for the riot at the United States Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, accusing him of projecting.

“The former occupant of the White House has always been about projection,” Pelosi said on MNSBC’s The Sunday Show regarding comments Trump made hours before on NBC’s Meet the Press.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN, AND WHO IS AFFECTED?

Speaking to Kristen Welker during her debut as the NBC’s show new moderator, Trump said, “She’s responsible for January 6,” adding, “Nancy Pelosi is responsible.”

Trump said Pelosi turned down an order for 10,000 troops on Jan. 6, which would have prevented the deadly attack. As Speaker of the House, Pelosi did not control National Guard deployment.

“Nancy Pelosi was in charge of security,” Trump said. “She turned down 10,000 soldiers. If she didn’t turn down the soldiers, you wouldn’t have had January.” Welker pointed out that Pelosi lacked the executive power to call in National Guard troops, which Trump denied, saying she was in charge of security.

The Jan. 6 committee investigating the Capitol attack released a report saying Trump didn’t intend to order the troops to protect the Capitol, but “floated the idea of having 10,000 National Guardsmen deployed to protect him and his supporters from any supposed threats by left-wing counterprotesters.”

Pelosi questioned Trump’s remark, emphasizing that “Trumpites” were attacking the Capitol, fighting the police, and threatening her life along with former Vice President Mike Pence.

“There’s a sickness here, there has to be an intervention,” Pelosi said, saying “that intervention has to be the election which we have to win,” adding that’s one of the reasons she is running for reelection in the House.
