Nikki Haley launches ‘grumpy old men’ billboard in South Carolina to attack Trump’s age

Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley sent moving billboards to her home state Saturday, attacking her 2024 opponent, Donald Trump, for his age.

The billboard, built on the back of a truck, will drive through the Myrtle Beach area playing a previous attack ad from the Haley campaign called “Grumpy Old Men” in reference to Trump, 77, and President Joe Biden, 81. This latest strategy comes as both Haley and Trump have entered South Carolina ahead of the state’s Republican primary on Feb. 24.

“I hope Donald Trump enjoys his visit to South Carolina today! I’m glad he found it – it’s been so long since he’s visited!” Haley wrote on X Saturday. “Donald, if you change your mind about Mar-a-Lago, South Carolina would be a great place to retire in the next few months!”

During campaign stops, Haley’s staff handed out competency tests with a prompt on the top that read: “Can you pass a mental competency test? Can Joe Biden? Can Donald Trump?” The questions involved naming animals, language fluency, and memory.

Trump and Haley are the final two Republican candidates left in the 2024 presidential election. Trump has earned the endorsement of most of the former candidates, including Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Vivek Ramaswamy, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC). Haley lost in the nation’s first caucus in Iowa and the nation’s first primary in New Hampshire.

Haley’s campaign amassed $24 million during the fourth quarter of last year, which was more than every quarter before it.
