October Prime Day is Almost Over—We’re Still Tracking Deals Live

I Love the Little LEDs In This USB Microphone

You know that grating sound when someone screams into the microphone? It’s awful. You know what’s not awful? Having a handy little indicator when you’re the one making that noise. There’s a lot we like about the Alias USB microphone from SteelSeries, but primary among them are the LEDs under the fabric covering. These show your audio levels as you’re speaking into the mic, so if you get too loud and start peaking, you’ll see a big red indicator telling you to tone it down. It’s a handy feature that surprisingly few USB mics seem to have, and in a really thoughtful place, too.

Ramble On With This Stackable Yeti Lowball for $14

Now’s the time, the time is now. The Yeti Rambler comes in about 248 different versions and we like every one we’ve tested. This little insulated cup has a 10-ounce capacity and a clever magnet design for easy opening and closing. There are 21 colors to choose from, though you’ll have to click around to see which are on sale for Prime Day. Some have clippable coupons to bring the price down a bit more.

The Standards Are Standard For a Reason

There are few webcams as iconic as the Logitech C920 family. They’ve been one of our top picks for years, and they were so hot that they were constantly out of stock when everyone was Zooming it up during the pandemic. This webcam gets excellent 1080p video quality, solid autofocus, and great white balancing. If the webcam in your laptop is making you look like a blown out ghost, this is a great option to take your video call game to the next level.

This Is the Best Smart Rubik’s Cube for the Easily Frustrated

I want to be the kind of person who can work on a Rubik’s cube until I solve it effortlessly in 5 minutes, like the genius I believe myself to be. But honestly, it’s way more likely that I get myself hopelessly mixed-up and put it down forever. The GoCube is beautiful and has a companion app that can coach you out of the worst Rubik’s messes, and with a little practice you can even start upping your solve speed! It’s like computer chess for the simple and easily distracted.

Double (or More) Your Xbox’s Storage With This One Little Card

Storage Expansion Card for Series X/S

The Xbox Series X/S have one of the easiest ways to get extra storage space of any console ever. There’s a slot on the back, where you can easily slide in one of these expansion cards. This one from Seagate packs a full 1TB of storage, which is twice the base storage of the Series S and the same as the Series X, so no matter which console you have, you’re getting a pretty hefty multiple of space for all your games.

Do It Yourself with the Ninja Creami Ice Cream Maker

Here’s a true story about a recent first-world problem: On the eve of Prime Day, I was craving ice cream in a way I’ve never craved ice cream before. But I was already in my jammies. What’s a girl to do? Order exorbitantly expensive Baskin-Robbins via DoorDash of course. Cut to my shock and horror when my household’s order arrived—and they’d FORGOTTEN. MY. SUNDAE. I can’t begin to describe the sheer emotional turmoil I went through.

Maybe I should just stop buying $15 double scoops and get a Ninja Creami instead. This countertop ice cream maker can make all the double scoop sundaes you want, and you won’t even need to pay someone else to forget to bring it to your doorstep. It can handle ice cream, sorbets, and gelatos, and a few recipes are included (though you can find many more on the Internet with the quickest of Google searches.) Read our full review here, and check out our list of the Best Prime Day Kitchen Deals for additional recommendations.

We Found Every Laptop Deal Worth Caring About

Decorative background: purple gradient with white sparkles.

One gadget the WIRED Gear desk knows? Laptops. We care more about operating systems, trackpad dimensions, and refresh rates than your average nerds…er, tech magazine writers. We test laptops year-round and we rustled up 22 Prime Day deals on machines that are worth your money. Want a MacBook? A Copilot+ PC? A tablet that may as well be a laptop? We’ve got you covered.

The Best Affordable Carry-on Is On Sale

Travelpro Maxlite 5

suitcase

The best budget carry-on in our guide to the Best Luggage, this suitcase is light, durable, and now only just over $100? We’ve been updating our Absolute Best Deals pretty regularly and I’m shocked that this one is still live.

The Prototypical Headphones of Their Era

Technology is always changing. It’s what keeps tech writers like me employed; we’re all always covering the next cool thing. Sony’s WH-1000XM4 headphones (9/10, WIRED Recommends) make a good case for building something right the first time. Sony has updated these headphones in the WH-1000XM5, but the M4 (which stands for Mark 4) are still around because, well, they’re still awesome. I’ve been using these headphones as a reference pair against some of the best noise cancelers you can buy for four years now, and they still hold a high ranking.

What makes them so great is a mix of comfy and durable design, excellent battery life, great sound, and a bounty of features that frankly felt like overkill upon release. They’re no longer overkill since much of the market around the Mark 4 has finally caught up, but everything from their intuitive and responsive touch controls to features like the ability to engage transparency mode by holding your hand on the earcup still feels modern and innovative. They pack up easily for travel, and you can wear them for hours without feeling like you’re in a torture chamber. They’re still great, and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy them today any more than I would in 2020.

This 9-Cup Food Processor Is the Perfect Size for Families

KitchenAid 9 Cup Food Processor

The top pick in our guide to Best Food Processors, this 9-cup KitchenAid food processor makes short work of everything from vegetables to pie dough. Our tester thought this model was the perfect capacity for a standard-sized kitchen and family of four, with blades, discs, and a whisk accessory that can even be stored directly in the bowl when not in use. It also comes in red, black, and silver, in case you have other KitchenAid appliances you’re looking to match. If you’re not able to buy on this last day of Prime Day, check out our exclusive coupon for 15 percent off any full-priced KitchenAid item.

You Probably Need a Power Bank

Shargeek Power Bank (cylindrical black device with clear casing, Anker Magnetic Battery (black angular charging stand), and Jackery Solar Generator (stacked black batteries)

It’s not very exciting, but one of the first things I bought was a 3-in-1 charger for my iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods (the good ones). We rounded up a few power bank deals here, in case you also want to keep your devices running. (This may be more pertinent than we’d like it to be, especially with a hurricane barreling in from the Gulf.)

Snag a Smart Lock and Hub For Crazy Cheap (And Keep Your Current Keys!)

Abode is known for its smart home security systems, but you can buy the Abode Lock (8/10, WIRED Recommends) a la carte without any other Abode products needed. It’s easy to install since it’s a retrofit lock, meaning it replaces just the back of your deadbolt and leaves the rest of the lock’s hardware in place, allowing your existing keys to still work and removing the need for casual door surgery. It also means your landlord won’t be able to tell you’ve added some smarts inside of your home. Everyone wins! Especially you since you can buy the lock for a discount right now.

If you want it to pair with smart home products or a smart speaker like Amazon Alexa, though, you’ll need an Abode hub. Abode’s security hubs only come in bundles, but good news: the Abode Security Kit is also on serious sale right now for $40 ($120 off) so you can add that on for super cheap. But even if you skip the hub, I recommend getting one of Abode’s subscription plans so you can get detailed notifications about when the door is locked, unlocked, or offline. Otherwise, you can control it, but can’t look back to see a feed of when it was used.

If You Don’t Have a Prime Subscription, You’re Still in Luck

Mystery Ranch Coulee long grey backpack with several straps, Anamorphic Mobile Lens, Mountain Tea Tumbler in blue and metal tea strainer, and Herman Miller Zeph white chair.

Even if you don’t have a Prime subscription, you don’t have to feel left out today (unless you want to, in which case, I salute you). Many companies have their own competing sales at this time, like the Tea Spot, which makes our favorite insulated brewer/mug.

An Insanely Popular (and Pricey) Stroller Is On Sale

You’ve definitely seen an Uppababy before, even if you aren’t a parent. And if you are a parent, you’ve absolutely heard of Uppbaby and their $1,000 dollar stroller. After testing it for our strollers guide, I’m sad to report it is a great stroller—folds better than most full-size strollers, can transform into a double stroller, and comes with a bassinet for the early newborn days.

Still, even with all those capabilities, it’s a tough price tag for most parents to go for. Which is what makes this Prime Day sale so exciting: it’s the perfect time to score your very own Uppababy, especially if you’re an expecting or early-days parent, since this stroller is really at its best for that 0-1 phase or using it as a double stroller. Some colors are cheaper than others, too: the Rosewood color currently has the cheapest price tag.

This Lodge Enameled Dutch Oven is Perfect for Soup Season

Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven

You simply don’t get the full Autumn experience if you don’t make at least one homemade soup or stew. This Lodge Dutch Oven is perfect for both, plus a bevy of other dishes. You can even bake bread in it! A few different, gorgeous colors are on sale. I know the discount might not seem that great, but for context, I’ve only seen these drop below $60 once or twice.

It comes with a lid and it’s oven safe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. I love using Dutch ovens for one-pot meals. Caramelize some onions, brown up some chicken thighs, break down some veggies, and build up layers and layers of flavor on the enameled surface. Your house is going to smell so good.

I’ve Been Recommending This HyperX Gaming Headset to Everyone

(Okay, yes, we technically already blogged about this headset yesterday. But the price dropped even more since then!)

The HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless scored a perfect 10/10 thanks in large part to its 300+ hour battery life. Yet even on sale, its price tag has dissuaded a few people I’ve recommended it to. The same can’t be said of its little brother, the HyperX Cloud III Wireless. This headset “only” gets 120 hours of battery life (which is still several times longer than most competitors) but costs significantly less. It’s also a bit more tasteful, with its all-black design, as opposed to the red metal on the Cloud Alpha Wireless.

I Love Seeing What You Guys Are Buying

Collage of variety of items including an office chair, headphones, smart lightbulbs, computer keyboard, e-reader, Lego set, routers, window air conditioner, earbuds, and more.

This won’t come as a surprise to anyone that WIRED readers are buying the top products in our guides that are on sale. For example, The Best MacBook for most people is selling, as is the Best Pixel Phone. Good work waiting for Prime Day, everyone! And now I’m off to restock on my favorite Ouai shampoo.

A Versatile and Comfortable iPad Case

I test a lot of iPad cases, but I’m continuously coming back to this one. It consists of two parts: a first half that protects the back of the iPad and comes with a kickstand (my favorite) and a second half that has a detachable keyboard with a trackpad. It’s durable, sturdy, and feels great to type on. It also connects using Apple’s Smart Connector on the back instead of Bluetooth, so you don’t have to worry about draining battery life. As for compatibility, it works with the base iPad (7th, 8th, and 9th-gen) along with the iPad Air (5th-gen and M2) and 11-inch iPad Pro (1st gen and newer), 12.9-inch iPad Pro (5th and 6th-gen), as well as the M4-powered 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro.

A smart air purifier that doesn’t stink

I spend many hours a year editing our guide to Best Air Purifiers—and writing the purifier-adjacent guide to the Best Fans—and while this 14-inch-tall Levoit didn’t make the cut for the guide this last round, WIRED reviewer Brenda Stolyar liked using it for her New York City studio. It can cycle the air five times per hour in a 219-square-foot space, and the cylindrical shape is not as unwieldy as other purifiers, so it’s easy to carry around. The VeSync companion app helps in monitoring indoor air quality, like the noted decrease that occurred when Brenda attempted to cook salmon in a confined space: “When I was cooking salmon in my tiny studio, the app listed the air quality at 209 and labeled it as ‘bad,’” she writes. “I switched the fan to high and the quality was back down to 74 (‘good’) within 15 minutes.” Nothing fishy about that!

The Best Wearable Pump for the Money (and Milk)

Willow Go Wearable Breast Pump

I’ve tried a ton of breast pumps, and my favorite wearable pump is the Willow Go. Willow started the wearable breast pump revolution back in 2019, and they’re still making great breast pumps. While the 360 (also on sale!) is great for all the coolest tricks, I found the Willow Go was just enough smarts while still being easy to use. I like that the exterior is clear so I can see how my output is going, and the parts are all nice and large, making it easy to clean without worrying about a piece heading down the drain. It doesn’t store milk afterwards, but instead has a large spout to easily pour milk into a bottle, freezer bag, or container. It’s usually on the pricey side for a breast pump, but it’s a little over $100 off right now for Prime Day.

Willow also has fun accessories on sale to go with its pumps, like the Pump Anywhere Case to carry your pump around to work or a friend’s house, and the Portable Breast Milk Cooler to store your pumped breastmilk in. I’d definitely recommend at least getting the latter if you plan to pump away from home, since the Willow Go doesn’t pump into a bag or bottle for you to store.
