Gumm’s daughters told ABC News the shooting was directed at their family — particularly their sister Angel Rutherford, with whom House has three children, the outlet reported.

The family said House went to the church looking for Angel. When informed she wasn’t there, he allegedly exclaimed, “Someone’s going to have to die,” Star Rutherford told ABC News.

Star said her mother was a “faithful member of the church who loved God,” according to the Herald-Leader .

The state trooper is receiving medical attention and in stable condition, Lexington police stated Sunday.

The suspect was shot by law enforcement and died at the scene, Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said during a Sunday press conference.

“Violence like this has no place in our commonwealth or country,” Democratic Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear posted to social media. “Please join Britainy and me as we pray for the families of those lost, each one a child of God gone too soon.”
