“You weren’t born to just pay bills and die,” the song opens. “All’s you need is a dog, a shack, a creek in the back, and a good woman, oh Lord, you don’t need that rich man’s gold.”

Anthony sings about the life of his grandfather and the “dirt poor” county he called home.

“Mama died when he was just 4, what a damn shame,” Anthony sings. “He grew tobacco, and he raised dogs, seven youngins, and some old dog.”

“I reckon they was living high on the horse back in their day.”

“You weren’t born to just pay bills and die,” his grandfather said, according to the song.

The song was recorded the same weekend that he recorded “I Want to go Home,” “90 some Chevy,” and “Rich Men North of Richmond,” Anthony posted in the video’s description.
