November 06, 2023 10:52 AM

Former President Donald Trump’s march to the 2024 Republican nomination continues to win new support, and his lead is now a massive 50 points over Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL).

Showing no signs of slowing despite the massive legal hurdles he is facing, Trump has increased his support among GOP likely voters to 63%. In second is DeSantis at 13%, followed by former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley at 9%, in the latest national Rasmussen Reports survey shared with Secrets.

Rasmussen also totaled all voters thinking about voting in states with open primaries.

When those voters are added, Trump maintains his lead with 50%, followed by DeSantis at 12% and Haley at 9%, Rasmussen said, though it showed that having Democrats and independents vote in GOP primaries watered down his lead.

“In states with open primaries — allowing voters to choose which primary they vote in without regard for their party registration — Trump’s advantage could be diluted by the potential ‘crossover’ vote,” the analysis said.

It added, “While Trump gets 63% of the vote among self-identified Republican voters, the former president is supported by only 33% of Democrats and 46% of unaffiliated voters who say they’re likely to vote in their state’s 2024 GOP primaries. Several of Trump’s primary rivals — including DeSantis, Haley, and [Chris] Christie — draw a significant share of their support from Democrats and unaffiliated voters.”
