A police drone caught an alleged serial peeping tom spying inside Maryland apartments Jan. 20, officials said.
Montgomery County police arrested Steven Jarezz Adams, 32, of Silver Spring after a drone recorded him peering into ground-floor apartments and exposing himself, according to a Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) press release. Officers from three district Special Assignment Teams moved in to apprehend Adams, but he allegedly fled on foot. The chase ended quickly and police took him into custody, the MCPD said.
Police said Adams first struck on Christmas Eve around 3:46 a.m. when he stood outside a home’s sliding glass door and exposed himself to a woman. He allegedly returned to the same block Jan. 7 around 6:40 p.m. when another woman spotted his shadow through her window blinds. That same evening, a neighbor using a flashlight saw Adams through a sliding glass door at around 10:30 p.m., according to police. The situation allegedly turned violent on Jan. 15. A resident received a motion alert from his security cameras and found Adams on his patio at around 7:05 p.m., the MCPD said. When the homeowner confronted him, Adams allegedly drew a knife and swung it at the victim before fleeing.
Detectives allegedly connected the incidents to Adams through an investigation. Officers secured an arrest warrant and tracked the suspect to an apartment complex where the drone surveillance captured him in the act, police said.
Adams now faces charges of indecent exposure, peeping tom, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and trespassing. He remains held without bond.
Police allegedly found that Adams was taken into custody on peeping tom allegations back in 2022, Bethesda Today reported.
