Pelosi says ‘something wrong here’ after Trump’s ‘bloodbath’ comment – Washington Examiner

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) reacted to former President Donald Trump’s prediction that the automobile industry will undergo a “bloodbath” if he’s not reelected.

Pelosi appeared on State of the Union Sunday, where she was asked what she thought about Trump receiving intelligence briefings. In answering the question, Pelosi brought up Trump’s speech in Dayton, Ohio, when he disparaged electric vehicles and made campaign promises to maintain the auto industry should he be reelected. Trump promised to put a 100% tariff on Chinese-made cars before he said, “Now if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath.”

The former House speaker said Democrats “have to win this election because he‘s even predicting a bloodbath. What does that mean? He’s going to exact a bloodbath? There‘s something wrong here,” Pelosi said. “How respectful I am of the American people and their goodness. But how much more do they have to see from him to understand that this isn‘t what our country is about? Praising Hitler, praising the Russians. Honestly? Condemning our soldiers for losing or dying in war or being captured in war.”

Pelosi did not mention the full context of the clip and left out any reference to the auto industry.

“There’s something wrong here,” she repeated. “So I just say, with all the respect in the world for voters and their right to make their decision, weigh these equities, how much are you concerned about more women or women having the right to choose or LGBT people having the right to their lives that you would vote for him? You wouldn‘t even allow me in your house much less than the White House.”

Pelosi and Trump have long feuded since his first term in office. For most of that time, Pelosi served as the speaker of the House.

Trump is days away from the next primary on Tuesday in Ohio. He remains the presumptive Republican nominee as all the other Republican candidates dropped out of the race.
