Nancy Pelosi’s daughter accused Donald Trump of having a “deranged obsession” with her mother after the former president claimed she once told him that he and the former Democratic House speaker would be “perfect together.”
In a closed-door meeting with House Republicans on Thursday, Trump discussed a path forward heading into the 2024 election and a strategy to grow their slim majority. But the former president occasionally delved into unrelated topics — including a claim involving Pelosi and her daughter.
“Nancy Pelosi’s daughter is a whacko,” Trump said in the meeting, according to Punchbowl News. “Her daughter told me if things were different, Nancy and I would be perfect together. There’s an age difference though.”
A lawmaker who attended the meeting confirmed this exchange with the Washington Examiner.
Christine Pelosi, one of Nancy Pelosi’s four children, shot back in a social media post, accusing Trump of having an obsession with the former House speaker.
“Speaking for all 4 Pelosi daughters — this is a LIE,” Christine Pelsosi posted on X. “His deceitful, deranged obsession with our mother is yet another reason Donald Trump is unwell, unhinged and unfit to step foot anywhere near her — or the White House.”
It’s not clear why Trump made the claim or whether it was related to other remarks he gave during the roughly hourlong meeting. But it was just one of several off-topic comments from the former president while meeting with GOP lawmakers.
At one point, Trump also poked fun at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), telling her to “be nice” to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) — a playful jab at her effort to oust him from his top leadership position last month.
However, many lawmakers gave Trump a glowing review after leaving the meeting, calling the exchanges “classic Trump.”

“He doesn’t follow a script,” Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) said. “He started pointing people at a crowd, which I always find miraculous.”
The planned visit comes as Trump makes the rounds with GOP lawmakers in Washington, D.C., this week, including a meeting with Republican senators later Thursday afternoon. The former president will meet with Johnson again in Mar-a-Lago on Monday, along with National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Richard Hudson (R-NC).
