Authorities have taken a person of interest into custody in connection with the November shooting of New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd, who was critically wounded outside a Manhattan restaurant.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, the 29-year-old NFL player was shot in the abdomen around 2 a.m. on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue on November 16.

The suspect was apprehended in Buffalo, New York, with the help of U.S. Marshals and NYPD detectives, according to a report from NBC News.

As of Monday evening, the suspect had not been publicly named.

According to investigators, the attack stemmed from a verbal confrontation with a group of strangers who taunted Boyd and his friends, including two Jets teammates, saying something like, “You think you’re better than us?”

The group went inside the club, but the dispute escalated when they exited approximately ten minutes later, leading to the gunman firing two shots.

Boyd was struck in the abdomen, with the bullet traveling to his lung and lodging in the pulmonary artery.

The cornerback was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition and underwent multiple medical procedures.

CBS reports:

Boyd, who has not appeared in a game for the Jets this season due to an injury, was released from the hospital sometime after the shooting, but he revealed on social media that he went back due to "health issues."

"Please bear with me, I haven't been in communication much. ... I was released but had to return to the hospital due to my health issues. ... I love and appreciate everyone of y'all dearly who has prayed/reached out even if I can't get back to you," Boyd wrote. "Head HIGH. God is not done with me yet!"

Boyd, a six-year NFL veteran, signed with the Jets this season after stints with the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, and Houston Texans.
