Peter Navarro has ‘no regrets’ making history as first White House official jailed for contempt – Washington Examiner

Peter Navarro, former White House adviser to former President Donald Trump, said he is not seeking a pardon and has no regrets about the actions that landed him in prison.

Navarro made history as the first White House official to be jailed for contempt after he refused to answer questions before the House panel investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection. He has been loyal to Trump since.

“I will not give the Supreme Court any excuse to duck what is otherwise a landmark constitutional case regarding the separation of powers and executive privilege,” Navarro told the Wall Street Journal from federal prison.

“I have no regrets,” Navarro said. “I didn’t choose this fight, this fight chose me.”

Trump also said he would “absolutely” bring Navarro back to the White House under a possible second Trump term.

“I would absolutely have Peter back. This outrageous behavior by the Democrats should not have happened,” Trump said.

Donald Trump Jr. and publisher Sergio Gor recently went to Miami to visit Navarro in prison as Navarro is set to release his new book, The New MAGA Deal.

The book will be released around the time of the Republican National Convention in July. Navarro will be released from prison on July 17, which gives him enough time to fly to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the last day of the convention on July 18. Navarro said he would speak at the convention if given the opportunity.

“Something like, ‘If they can come for me — and they surely did — they can come for you,’” Navarro said.
