Two groups supporting former Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for president are attempting to court Democrats in New Hampshire to help him win the 2024 GOP presidential primary in the state.

The initiatives from the Tell It Like It Is super PAC, which has hosted town halls for Christie, and the American Leadership Today group are attempting to get Democrats to change their voter registration in the state before the Oct. 6 deadline, according to Politico.

THE RACE IS ON: WHO COULD REPLACE MCCARTHY AS SPEAKER?

A mailer being sent to Democratic voters by the Tell It Like It Is super PAC shows a picture of the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, with text saying, “This can’t happen again,” according to the report.

“You can make sure it doesn’t. Stop Trump by switching parties & voting in the Republican primary,” the mailer continues.

On the other side of the mailer, it touts Christie as “the only one willing to take on Trump,” and urges voters to change their registration to Republican, while also saying it is easy to switch it back.

An online advertisement from the American Leadership Today group also touts switching party affiliation for the GOP primary, arguing that “democracy will be on the ballot.

“In New Hampshire on a cold January night, democracy will be on the ballot. Will we continue to uphold our Constitution?” the ad asked. “Until Oct. 6, declared voters can switch parties at the town’s clerk’s. After voting you can switch right back.”

Christie has focused most of his attention on New Hampshire, which hosts the first GOP primary after Iowa holds its first-in-the-nation GOP caucuses. While he is far behind other Republican candidates nationally, Christie is competitive for second place in New Hampshire.

The RealClearPolitics polling average shows former President Donald Trump leads the field in New Hampshire with 45%. He is followed by former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley with 14.2%, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) with 10.4%, and Christie with 9%.
