A Southern California security company is offering firearms training to frightened members of the Jewish community amid increased antisemitism following the start of the Israel-Hamas war.

Magen Am is looking to offer safe and responsible security training to Jews as the threat of extremist attacks on U.S. soil appears to be on the rise, according to a report.

“I’ve never, ever felt anything like I’ve been feeling now,” said Sharon Wiener, a recent attendant of a Magen Am class. “I’m not letting my life stop, and I’m just being more cautious and aware. I’m on heightened alert.”

The company seeks to promote the safe practices of gun ownership and how to store firearms responsibly, the report noted.

“The threat to the Jewish community definitely has skyrocketed,” said Rabbi Yossi Eilfort, the founder of Magen Am.

“For my lifetime, this is the biggest threat that we’ve seen.”

Threats against the lives of Jews are at a new high, and those frightened need to be protected, according to Eilfort.

“What I’ve been saying is, ‘Lots of people with lots of guns and a little training is a bad thing. Lots of people with lots of guns and lots of training can be a good thing for the community,'” the rabbi said.

“We’re lucky we live in a time and place where this is legal.”

Eilfort’s message has received a wide response from his community, according to the report.

“In my opinion, getting some sort of gun training, gun safety, for the long run, it can be very beneficial for us, for our self-defense, for ourselves,” one attendee said.
