Ramaswamy warns border ‘invasion’ could lead to attack in vein of Hamas Oct. 7 strike – Washington Examiner

Former 2024 Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy reiterated the importance of securing the southern border on Wednesday, warning that the terrorist attack Israel endured last year could happen in the United States.

Ramaswamy, who suspended his presidential campaign last month and endorsed former President Donald Trump, described the “invasion” occurring along the U.S. border as the biggest threat the country faces. The former presidential candidate’s warning comes after the Border Patrol caught more than 172 known or suspected terrorists illegally entering the U.S. over 12 months ending in October, the same month Israel was attacked by the Hamas terrorist group.

“If that disaster can happen on Oct. 7 in Israel, it could happen right here at home in the United States of America,” Ramaswamy said on Fox News’s Hannity. “And God forbid you learn that the hard way. So, this should not be a Democrat versus Republican issue.”

Ramaswamy also scoffed at the idea the U.S. needs a new law to enforce border security, as the Remain in Mexico policy is still “technically” a law. However, he noted that the leaders who could enforce this law, President Joe Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, are choosing not to enforce it.

Ramaswamy also discussed the president’s reelection chances and how special counsel Robert Hur’s report could affect those chances, warning that he believes the Democratic Party is preparing to “move him out of the way” for another candidate. He argued this is because Trump is expected to be the Republican nominee for the 2024 election and that the former president would likely beat Biden in a rematch.

“So, we have to be skating to where the puck is going, not just where it is,” Ramaswamy said. “One step ahead. We can fall into the temptation of thinking the Democratic Party is as sillily stupid as Joe Biden appears to be on a given day. That’s actually not the case. They’re actually one step ahead, and I believe they are planning to replace Joe Biden quietly, and I think this is just one more step in leading us there for us to be prepared to really have a much more competitive race this fall than it appears at the margin.”

The Hamas attack on Israel on Oct. 7 resulted in around 1,200 people killed, most of whom were civilians. Around 240 people were also kidnapped by Hamas and brought back to Gaza.

The House of Representatives voted for Mayorkas’s impeachment on Tuesday night, with the impeachment vote winning narrowly by 214-213. The movement will now go before the Senate, in which, unlike the House, the Democratic Party holds a slim majority.
