REPORT: Foreign Businessman Channeled Funds To Leftist Orgs Backing ‘No Kings’ Protests, Anti-Trump Lawsuits

A Swiss foreign national reportedly channeled millions of dollars into leftist organizations responsible for the “No Kings” protests while other take President Donald Trump head-on in massive lawsuits, filings reveal.

Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss has allegedly used a nonprofit to influence American politics because he cannot contribute to federal candidates directly, according to tax filings obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

Berger Action Fund received a single contribution of $176.7 million which the Free Beacon alleged almost certainly came from Wyss directly, the filings said. The group created a reimbursement program to cover the expenses of protesters, the outlet previously reported, citing a since-deleted webpage.

Speaking about the “No Kings” protests, ACLU campaign director Ellen Flenniken said it was never meant to be “a single day of outrage” and that the group plans to do everything within its power to “push back against the Trump administration’s encroachment on our rights” in courts and communities.

The ACLU has used Wyss’s funds to fund a barrage of lawsuits, according to the Free Beacon. The organization has launched over 200 legal actions targeting the Trump administration, claiming that over 70% of its actions have “successfully defeated, diluted, or delayed” Trump’s agenda.

The ACLU has launched legal challenges opposing Trump’s lethal strikes on drug boats and his actions to stop the genital mutilation of transgender-identifying minors, the Free Beacon reported. They have also gone after allegations of racial profiling by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in Minnesota.

The Berger Action Fund also provided $27 million to a dark money group, the Sixteen Thirty Fund, which reportedly backs leftist nonprofits. The Free Beacon noted it wasn’t known where Wyss’s funds were allegedly spent. The Sixteen Thirty Fund supported many anti-Trump groups leading up to the 2024 election, including a donation of $11.8 million to the League of Conservation Voters, according to the outlet.

The League targeted Trump’s “dirty and dangerous” energy agenda by opposing the president’s nominees to lead energy and environmental agencies, and spent $1.3 million lobbying against Trump in 2025, the Free Beacon reported. the Free Beacon reported.

“In 2024, the Berger Action Fund supported organizations working to address climate change, protect access to health care, promote economic opportunity, and bring increased transparency to our campaign finance system,” a Berger Action Fund spokesperson told the Daily Caller in a statement. “Berger’s grants complied with laws and rules governing its charitable activities, and all grant funding was prohibited from being used to support or oppose political candidates or parties or other electoral activity.
