REPORT: Man With 11-Year-Old Daughter Shoots At Man, Hits His 10-Year-Old Daughter Inside Car

A Texas man reportedly fired at a family’s van early Jan. 3o and struck a 10-year-old girl while his own 11-year-old daughter sat in his vehicle.

Bryan Arceo, 41, faces three counts of aggravated assault for recklessly discharging a gun and one count of child endangerment after a road rage incident on San Antonio’s Northwest Side, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by KSAT. Arceo allegedly backed his gray Nissan Murano out of a private driveway and blocked the family’s van, prompting the mother in that vehicle to honk her horn. Arceo then slammed his brakes in front of them, officials said.

The mother alleged to investigators that Arceo pulled up beside her at a red light and aimed a handgun toward her. She turned right and accelerated as she overheard a “pop” sound, according to the affidavit. (RELATED: REPORT: Police Arrest Famous Actor After Alleged Altercation With Ride-Share Driver)

The father allegedly smelled gunpowder inside the van. The young girl told her parents she had been shot, the affidavit alleged.

Jason Gates, the girl’s father, told Fox San Antonio his wife honked the horn briefly. “My wife was on the horn, but she was on the horn no more than three seconds,” Gates said.

Investigators said his daughter underwent emergency surgery at University Hospital, according to KENS5. The father said she has since started walking again.

Arceo conducted an illegal turn behind the family, who then tracked him for several blocks after the shooting, the affidavit alleged. Arceo allegedly stopped his vehicle and stepped out of the roadway with the gun. The family drove around the suspect and fled.

Police arrested Arceo the afternoon of Jan. 30 and booked him into the Bexar County jail. Surveillance video reportedly showed him dropping his daughter off at a school in the vicinity shortly after the incident.

The child endangerment charge comes from Arceo allegedly endangering his own 11-year-old daughter by firing a weapon while she sat in his vehicle, according to the affidavit.

His ex-wife, who was also in the car, told investigators she watched Arceo aim at the van and chamber a round before shooting.
