Palantir Technologies co-founder and CEO, Alex Karp, is set to attend House Speaker and Republican Louisiana Rep. Mike Johnson’s premier donor event in August, according to a Friday report.
The leader of the rising tech giant will address the big GOP donors at a retreat in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on “growth versus gridlock,” according to Punchbowl News.
Although Karp will reportedly be speaking at the Republican donor event, he donated to candidates in both parties during the 2024 election. (RELATED: Socialist Zohran Mamdani To Embark On Anti-Trump Trek Across Big Apple)
Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale also donated to Elon Musk’s super-PAC during the 2024 election, according to The Washington Post.
Palantir has already spent $3 million on lobbying in 2025, according to data from Open Secrets. The tech giant recently announced a $10 billion contract with the U.S. Army to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and manage the military branch’s databases.

Palantir has recently faced criticism from the right for Karp’s past support of Democrats and his 2023 claim a Palantir tool “single-handedly stopped the rise of the far-right in Europe.”
“War Room” host Steve Bannon raised concerns in June that Palantir’s work with the federal government could create a “surveillance state.”
The left has also expressed contempt for Palantir after it agreed to develop a new tool for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that would facilitate deportations. Palantir’s decision to work with ICE resulted in a protest from Planet Over Profit at the company’s Manhattan headquarters, which resulted in police detaining six demonstrators in June.
Several others will be speaking at the event along with Karp, according to Punchbowl News. (RELATED: ‘Help Us Solve Our National Security Problems’: Pentagon Wants Silicon Valley Tech Execs To Join Military)

A panel on defense, tech and homeland security will consist of Katherine Boyle, the leader of the “American Dynamism” practice for Andreessen Horowitz; Republican House Homeland Security Committee Chair and New York Rep. Andrew Garbarino; and Republican Virginia Rep. Jen Kiggans.
Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF) President Chris Winkelman and National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Chair North Carolina Rep. Richard Hudson will take part in a discussion on the midterm elections.
