REPORT: Police Arrest City Council Candidate For Allegedly Breaking Into Rival Candidate

Police arrested a former Cincinnati City Council candidate early Saturday after he allegedly broke into the home of a congressional candidate who has a restraining order against him, according to a local report.

Kevin Farmer, 39, faces burglary and restraining order violation charges following the alleged 3:26 a.m. incident at Rosemary Oglesby-Henry’s Westwood home, WLWT reported. Oglesby-Henry, a Republican running for Ohio’s 1st Congressional District, captured video of Farmer smashing through her garage window to enter the property, according to prosecutors.

The arrest came hours after Farmer told WLWT he would drop out of the city council race. His name will remain on Tuesday’s ballot.

Saturday’s incident adds another chapter to the pair’s troubled history.

Police arrested Oglesby-Henry in September for aggravated menacing after she allegedly pointed a gun at Farmer at her home. She denied the allegation, stating no firearm was recovered when police searched her property. “While Mr. Farmer remains squatting in my home today, he used law enforcement to bring a false case against me and had me jailed without cause,” Oglesby-Henry said after her September arrest. “He is an abuser, and I will not back down.”

Court records show Farmer faced assault and domestic violence charges against Oglesby-Henry in July, the outlet reported. She later dropped those charges but obtained a protective order against him.

Farmer appeared at his Saturday morning arraignment wearing a sweatshirt that read “God got me,” according to the outlet.

Before withdrawing from the race, Farmer campaigned on government transparency and violence prevention, WLWT reported. He ran without party endorsement for one of nine at-large council seats.

Oglesby-Henry seeks to unseat Democratic Rep. Greg Landsman in Tuesday’s election.
