Arizona police arrested a special education teacher Wednesday after they said a video showed her appearing to have sex with a student, according to 12 News.
Twenty-four-year-old Charlotte Huesby, a special education teacher at the Austin Centers for Exceptional Students’ Peoria campus, has been accused of having sexual contact with a minor, 12 News reported. Huesby was fired from the school on August 29, a spokesperson told 12 News. Huesby also allegedly admitted to having sexual contact with the student, police said.
The school’s superintendent discovered “inappropriate text messages” between Huesby and the 17-year-old student, FOX 10 reported, citing court documents. In addition, a female student at the school purportedly told a counselor about the alleged relationship between Huesby and the 17-year-old. Video of the alleged victim appearing to have sexual contact with Huesby was shared on a social media group chat, according to the same court documents.
During a forensic interview, the alleged victim purportedly told police he had begun dating Huesby shortly after meeting her at the school in 2024, the outlet reported. Huesby reportedly told police that the pair had sex 10 to 15 times. On one instance, Huesby allegedly invited the victim to a hotel room, recorded them having intercourse and told him she wanted him to impregnate her, the outlet reported, citing police. The victim’s father told police he was under the impression that his son was dating an 18-year-old girl named “Angie,” but his son later confessed “Angie” and Huesby were the same person, according to FOX 10. Huesby was arrested following her forensic interview.
The Austin Centers for Exceptional Students serves special needs students ranging from five to 22-years-old and has multiple campuses, including the Peoria location where Huesby was employed.
Huesby worked at the Peoria campus for six years, and the school never had any concerns about her, FOX 10 reported, citing court documents. She is set to have a preliminary hearing on September 11.
Police confirmed Huesby’s arrest to 12 News, stating that she will be facing sexual conduct with a minor charges amid an active investigation.
Neither the police nor the school released any details involving the 17-year-old student, according to 12 News.
