REPORT: Police Shoot Alleged Carjacker, Arraign Him While In Hospital Bed

Admilson Vizcaino, a 33-year-old accused carjacker, reportedly pleaded not guilty in a Massachusetts court to multiple charges through Zoom from his hospital bed Monday.

Police charged Vizcaino with four counts of attempted armed carjacking counts, two armed carjacking counts, departing the scene of property damage and assault with a dangerous weapon, WBZ News reported. His alleged crime spree unfolded in Everett, Massachusetts, last Thursday, culminating in police shooting him.

Officers initially sought Vizcaino after allegations of erratic behavior at a Medford gas station. Stoneham law enforcement then attempted to pull over Vizcaino, but he allegedly evaded capture. Surveillance video later captured him allegedly shoplifting from a nearby 7-Eleven.

Vizcaino allegedly stole a gas can, soda and chips before fleeing. A family member contacted authorities, alerting them that Vizcaino had been spotted in Malden, authorities said. Police tracked the suspect’s movements before he entered Everett.

Authorities traced him to Everett and discovered that Vizcaino crashed the vehicle he was driving and endeavored to carjack others while brandishing a knife, police said. Massachusetts State Police reportedly attempted to subdue Vizcaino with a taser.

Vizcaino then attempted to carjack a Republic Services trash truck by forcing the driver out, but police intervened, authorities said. An officer shot him and provided aid to the driver before the suspect allegedly drove off.

Vizcaino drove the stolen trash truck about half a mile, hitting light poles and fire hydrants, before striking stop sticks and crashing, NBC10 Boston reported, citing police.

Vizcaino reportedly remains hospitalized in critical condition with gunshot injuries. A dangerousness hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13, where he’s expected to show up in person.
