A deadly shooting allegedly killed one and injured two others at the celebrity-studded opening for a new location of the late Nipsey Hussle’s restaurant franchise, Marathon Burger, according to a report.
Long Beach California Police said gunfire erupted Sunday after 3:30 p.m., sending crowds of people running for their lives just outside of the perimeter that was blocked off for the celebration, according to ABC7 News. Hundreds gathered to witness the grand opening of another location of the late rapper’s fast food chain, including Snoop Dogg and YG.
Multiple people were shot and one person died near the grand opening of Nipsey Hussle’s Marathon Burger in Long Beach.

Eric VanDyke, a relative of Hussle, said he witnessed the chaotic scene unfold.
“I saw people running. When you see a mass of people running, you know something’s going on, and they ran in one direction, and then the other direction, then somebody said that they heard gunshots,” he told ABC 7 News.

Police said three men were shot and transported to the hospital, where one died. The other two men were in stable condition, the outlet reported.
“It was disappointing because I know that Nip, Black Sam wanted this to be a happy occasion, so it’s unfortunate that something happened that would bring more attention to the negative elements as opposed to the positive elements,” VanDyke said, according to ABC 7 News.
Long Beach police do not have any suspects in custody, and it’s unclear if the shooting was directly connected to the grand opening.
TMZ reported that the shooting occurred after Snoop Dogg and YG had already left the event.

The violent scene came just one day after fans and loved ones gathered to witness the official renaming of the intersection of Slauson and Crenshaw as “Nipsey Hussle Square” in honor of the beloved rapper’s legacy.(RELATED: Shocking Details Of Slain Nipsey Hussle’s Last Moments Revealed)
Nipsey Hussle was gunned down March 31, 2019, outside of his clothing store. The Grammy-nominated rapper was 33-years-old at the time of his death.
