REPORT: Video Appears To Show Councilman Punching Man Who Was Taking Over Building He Once Owned

Newly released security footage Thursday captures Grand Prairie, Texas, City Councilman Mike Del Bosque decking a 60-year-old real-estate broker during an April 4 parking lot dispute.

The clip, first aired by CBS News Texas, shows Del Bosque knocking broker David Collantes to the pavement outside a Carrier Parkway medical office he owns, smashing the broker’s phone and lunging for his wallet before walking away. Del Bosque subsequently turned himself in on and was booked on misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief; he is free on bond while Dallas County prosecutors review the case. “I just was fighting for my life, literally,” Collantes told the outlet, adding that he still carries “physical and emotional scars” from the attack.

Del Bosque, listed in police records as Miguel Angel Del Bosque, has represented District 3 since 2017.

The councilman declined to comment to the outlet, but defense attorney Phillip Linder insisted the video “only shows the after events,” claiming Collantes had barged into the clinic, refused to leave and cursed at Del Bosque.

Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen called the footage “concerning” but said voters will decide whether Del Bosque should stay in office if he seeks re-election next year.

Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot vowed an impartial review, saying the councilman’s status “is not impacting the prosecution,” according to the outlet.
