RFK Jr. launches workout challenge in response to age concerns for Trump and Biden

Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is focusing on fitness ahead of the 2024 presidential election by launching a workout program for voters, while concerns about President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump’s mental and physical fitness lower voter confidence in their abilities to govern.

The AmericaMoves challenge commenced Tuesday to motivate individuals to be active for at least 24 minutes a day during 2024, according to a report.

The program “has set out to ignite a wellness revolution,” according to Kennedy’s campaign. The independent candidate suggested the challenge in response to voters and political leaders questioning the mental and physical fitness of two of the oldest presidents in U.S. history.

The 70-year-old went viral in June 2023 when a video of him doing shirtless push-ups grabbed the attention of conservatives and fitness influencers. He captioned the video, “Getting in shape for my debates with President Biden!”

For many, Kennedy, who has been the focus of other public displays of physical fitness, was a stark contrast to Biden.

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley and other GOP leaders called Trump’s mental fitness into question when the 77-year-old mixed up Haley and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) name at a rally in New Hampshire last week, with Haley implying he is mentally unfit for the presidency.

“I don’t mind being 80, but I’m 77, that’s a big difference,” Trump said at a Manchester, New Hampshire, rally on Saturday. “I feel my mind is stronger now than it was 25 years ago.”

While Biden’s cognitive decline has faced criticism following some incoherent speeches and several public falls, first lady Jill Biden repeatedly has defended her husband’s age, referring to it as an asset.

The challenge began at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and will continue for the next two months, according to Kennedy’s campaign.
