RFK Jr. pushing for presidential debate on X after Musk agrees – Washington Examiner

After Robert F. Kennedy Jr. asked X owner Elon Musk if he could host a presidential debate on the social media platform, the tech and business magnate agreed.

Now Kennedy is calling out President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump to debate him on the website formerly known as Twitter.

“X is where the debate should be,” Kennedy said in a post. “The new public square with 100x the audience of CNN. @realDonaldTrump, I know you’ve got the guts to do it. Do you want to call @POTUS or should I?”

Kennedy’s comments come after rumors that the Biden campaign made CNN promise to exclude him from its June 27 debate and Trump has continued attacks on him.

“President Trump has committed to 4 debate invitations with Joe Biden – Fox News, ABC, NBC/Telemundo, and CNN, and has called for an additional Vice-Presidential debate to be held as well,” a Trump campaign official told the Washington Examiner in a statement. “President Trump has also said himself that he has no problem debating RFK Jr.”

Kennedy has previously claimed that he “will meet the criteria to participate in the CNN debate before the June 20 deadline.” He will need to make it on the ballot in enough states to reach 270 electoral votes and meet a 15% polling requirement.

The Washington Examiner reached out to the Biden campaign for comment but did not receive a response.

Kennedy’s inquiry came after Musk said the independent candidate should be in CNN’s June debate. Musk’s comment came as a reply to Kennedy tweeting a poll noting 71% of respondents wanted third parties in debates.

The company noted in March that more than 250 million people use the platform every day and 550 million visit every month.

There will also be an ABC debate on Sept. 10, but it is unclear whether Kennedy will qualify.
