Ronny Jackson expresses doubt Biden is ‘calling the shots’ as president – Washington Examiner

Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) has expressed doubt President Joe Biden is “calling the shots” in leading the country, citing the recent report from special counsel Robert Hur that was released earlier this month.

The report from Hur revealed that the president could not be charged for his handling of classified documents due to Biden’s “poor memory,” which included Biden struggling to remember key dates that occurred during his lifetime. Jackson, who worked as then-President Donald Trump’s military physician and has argued that Biden should get a cognitive test like his presidential predecessors, suggested that “the whole world” is aware of Biden’s lack of leadership and called for a new leader to take up the reins of the country.

“I think the whole world, and I mean the world, not just this country, realizes this particular point that he’s not calling the shots. He’s not making the decisions,” Jackson said on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle, “and so, I think that the world is in chaos right now. We have got a lot of stuff going on. We need somebody who is attuned to what’s happening, who’s read into everything that’s going on, and who can make these decisions and multitask, and this guy obviously cannot do this.”

Jackson was also asked about Biden’s decision not to do a Super Bowl interview on Sunday, and was also informed that Trump had offered to do the interview instead, though Trump’s offer was ultimately rejected. The Texas lawmaker noted that this instance was an example of the “crazy” contrast between the two candidates, claiming that Trump can answer questions from the press for “hours on end,” while Biden struggles to read from a teleprompter “without looking horrible.”

The White House recently compared Jackson to Dr. Nick Riviera, a character from the animated television series The Simpsons, when asked about Jackson’s call for Biden to perform a cognitive test, implying Jackson lacks credibility. When asked about the comparison, Jackson called it “absolutely ridiculous,” noting how he worked as a White House physician for 14 years and worked for three U.S. presidents.

The Hur report has created concern within the Democratic Party ahead of the 2024 presidential election, with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) saying that the party is in “trouble.”

In discussing the Hur report, the Washington Examiner’s Byron York argued that it increased concerns among voters regarding the president’s age, which he argued was already “a pretty big issue” prior to the report’s release. York also noted the problem of Biden’s age is ultimately something that cannot be fixed.
