Russian Major General Killed in IED Bomb Attack as US Special Envoy Witkoff Arrives in Moscow for Peace Talks with Putin

Russian Major General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed today in an IED attack in the Moscow region as US officials met with Putin for peace talks.

Russian Major General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in an IED bomb blast in the Moscow region on Friday.

This coincided with the planned peace talks between US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin.

According to Russia Today Moskalik was the Deputy Chief of Main Operations Directorate of General Staff of Russian Armed Forces.

Russia is calling the bombing a “terrorist attack.” An estimated 300 grams of NTT was used in the explosive device.

Russia Today reported:

A Russian two-star general serving as deputy operations chief of the general staff has been killed by a car bomb, officials have confirmed.

The incident that claimed the life of Lt.Gen. Yaroslav Moskalik occurred on Friday morning in the suburban Moscow town of Balashikha.

Russia’s Investigative Committee has said the improvised explosive device planted inside the car was packed with metal fragments for additional lethality.

The news agency TASS has reported that investigators estimated the yield of the device as the equivalent of 300 grams of TNT.
