Senate hearing set for Trump FDA pick embraced by anti-abortion movement

Senate Republicans scheduled a confirmation hearing for Food and Drug Administration Commissioner nominee Dr. Heidi Overton for Thursday, Sept. 24.

Although Overton, a former White House health policy adviser, will likely be quizzed on a variety of hot-button issues, including vaccines, prescription drug approvals, and food reform policies, her track record of supporting anti-abortion causes will likely be leveraged by Democrats hoping to score points against Republican rivals up for reelection.
