Snoop Dogg shifts stance on Trump: ‘Nothing but love and respect’

Iconic rapper Snoop Dogg has stated in a new interview that he has “nothing but love and respect” for former President Donald Trump, a notable shift from statements he previously made on the former president.

The rapper’s comment was made in an interview that was published Saturday, during which he claimed that the former president has “done only great things for me.” It comes a few years after Snoop Dogg called Trump “a f***ing weirdo” in 2020.

“He ain’t done nothing wrong to me,” Snoop Dogg told the Sunday Times. “He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris.”

The rapper was referring to Michael “Harry-O” Harris, one of the 70 people that Trump commuted their sentences at the very end of his presidency in January 2021. Harris, who had served 30 years of a 25-year to life sentence for conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, granted $1.5 million in seed money to Suge Knight to start Death Row Records, which featured various famous rappers like Snoop Dogg.

“So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump,” the rapper said.

Snoop Dogg’s recent statements mark a much different view from what he previously held on Trump. In 2017, Snoop Dogg was in a music video for the song “Lavender” in which he shot a clown that had the appearance of Trump.

The rapper has also not shied away from politics prior to Trump, as he revealed ahead of the 2012 presidential election that he would be voting for then-President Barack Obama over Republican candidate Mitt Romney.
