Stimulus update: Direct payment worth $1,312 being sent to some Alaska residents in 15 days

In 15 days, the Alaska Department of Revenue will distribute Permanent Fund Dividend checks to eligible residents of the state who have yet to receive their checks from the program.

Eligible Alaskans who have the “Eligible-Not Paid” status by Feb. 7, and have yet to receive his or her check for 2023 or earlier will get their check from the state on Feb. 15.

Applicants must intend to remain residents of Alaska indefinitely and may not be a convicted felon, among other requirements, to be eligible for a payment from the program.

The state says the Permanent Fund Dividend program gives eligible Alaskans a dividend payment each year based on the state’s mineral revenues for that year. The PFD check for 2023 began going out in October and was worth $1,312 per resident.

“The 2023 PFD marks the 42nd year Alaskans have received their share of the state’s natural resource wealth,” Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum said in a statement about the 2023 payment. “I would like to thank our Permanent Fund Dividend Division for their tireless work year-round in administering the program and processing the applications.”

“This year, we processed over 8,000 more applications than in 2022,” he said in 2023. “The 2023 PFD will inject nearly $1 billion into the state’s economy and directly into the hands of Alaskans.”
