Stimulus update: Direct payment worth $1,312 to be sent to some Alaska residents in nine days

The Alaska Department of Revenue will send out payments from the Permanent Fund Dividend in nine days to another batch of residents who have yet to receive their checks from the program.

The group of Alaska residents who are slated to receive their PFD payments on March 21 include those who have the “Eligible-Not Paid” status as of Wednesday and have yet to get their checks from the program from 2023 or earlier.

To qualify for a payment from the program, an Alaskan must intend to remain a resident of the state indefinitely and may not be a convicted felon, among other requirements.

The Permanent Fund Dividend determines payment amounts for each year via the state’s annual mineral revenues for that year. The PFD check was worth $1,312 in 2023, and distribution began in October.

“The 2023 PFD marks the 42nd year Alaskans have received their share of the state’s natural resource wealth,” Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum said in a statement about the 2023 payment. “I would like to thank our Permanent Fund Dividend Division for their tireless work year-round in administering the program and processing the applications.”

“This year, we processed over 8,000 more applications than in 2022. The 2023 PFD will inject nearly $1 billion into the state’s economy and directly into the hands of Alaskans,” Crum said.
