Super Bowl 2024: Travis Kelce wishes he could ‘immediately’ take back yelling at his coach during viral moment

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce apologized to his coach for a viral moment that occurred during Sunday’s Super Bowl, in which Kelce bumped into his coach and was seen shouting at him.

The moment occurred during the second quarter, with footage and photos of the encounter quickly spreading online. Kelce acknowledged that it was a “heated” moment between him and Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid, and said he was passionate about getting back into the game to help his team get in the lead.

“It’s definitely unacceptable,” Kelce said on the New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce. “I immediately wished I had took it back. Coach Reid actually came right up to me after that and didn’t even have harsh words for me. I was ready to get a f***ing a** chewing and for him to just tell me to f***ing be better, and he was just letting me know, ‘Hey man, I love your passion, I got cameras on me all over the place, man.’”

Kelce also said that he really loves working for his coach and that he does not believe he would continue to play football if Reid chooses to retire after this season.

Jason Kelce, who is currently contemplating his future in the NFL, stated that while his brother’s behavior was unacceptable, it was the type of behavior conducted between two people who have “so much respect for each other” and feel “open enough” to have the type of interaction that they did in public.

“You don’t care that everybody is watching this,” Kelce said. “This is between you and him, and you guys need to get this fixed or figured out, because you know the f***ing game’s on the line.”

The Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in an overtime thriller. It marked the Chiefs’ fourth Super Bowl victory and the team’s second victory against the 49ers, as the two teams previously faced off in the 2020 Super Bowl.
