Ted Cruz says Democrats consider him ‘No. 1 target’ as blue money and immigrants flood Texas – Washington Examiner

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) suggested the Biden administration is allowing the border crisis to continue in the hopes that the immigrants become “future Democrat voters.”

Cruz appeared on Fox News’s Hannity on Wednesday to comment on President Joe Biden’s campaign efforts in Texas. A Democratic candidate hasn’t won the state since 1976, when Jimmy Carter was elected for a single term.

“Let’s be clear: The 10.4 million illegal immigrants that Joe Biden and the Democrats have let in — have deliberately let in — they’re letting them in because they view them as future Democrat voters. They hope as many of them as possible will vote illegally right now,” Cruz said. “They want them to stay in Texas — they want them to be in Florida — because they want to flip our states. Look, if they bring a million illegal immigrants into Texas, and they vote Democrat, Texas is in real trouble. That’s what the Democrats are aiming at. It’s why they are flooding our state.”

Texas law enforcement has apprehended 506,500 illegal immigrants since it began its own border security efforts in the form of “Operation Lone Star” in March 2021. It has offloaded over 108,000 immigrants by transporting them to various “sanctuary cities,” such as Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago, among others.

“We got to fight to defend Texas. If we lose Texas, we lose the whole country,” Cruz said.

Cruz is up for reelection this November. He is up against Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX), a former NFL player.

The last time Cruz was up for reelection, he won by 3 percentage points. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump won the state in 2016 and 2020, although his second campaign won over a smaller percentage of the vote.
