A Georgia teen was found safe after reportedly going missing Sunday following a shopping run for homecoming attire with her stepmom earlier in the day, police told the Daily Caller.
A DeKalb County Police spokesperson told the Daily Caller via email Thursday that Reidling had been found safe.
“Amy Reidling, 14, has been found safe and in good health. Additionally, so far, DeKalb County Police’s investigation does not point to an abduction,” the spokesperson said.
Amy Reidling, 14, was discovered missing Sunday night by her stepmom Ginny Rutledge, 11Alive reported. Rutledge told 11Alive that when she returned home from dinner, the teen was gone, prompting her to call 911 at 9:15 p.m. In addition, the girl’s father, Mike Reidling said there was no warning before her disappearance.
The teen’s family said she doesn’t have a phone and has little money. She also has not posted on social media, and they think she may have been lured online, according to the outlet.
“There’s a lot she doesn’t know, and especially in a big city like Atlanta,” Rutledge told 11Alive. “It’s cliche and everything, but you never think it’ll happen. But here we are.”
Rutledge said she and her stepdaughter had gone shopping earlier on Sunday for accessories to match her homecoming dress. She said the teen was looking forward to attending the dance later in the weekend. The teen’s family also told 11Alive they have enlisted the help of friends and a private investigator to search for her. (RELATED: Horde Of Thieves Ransack Jewelry Store. The teen left her home near Glenwood Road and Covington Highway around 6 p.m. on Sept. 21., 11Alive reported, citing fliers her family has circulated. She is described as 5-foot-1 with brown hair and brown eyes.
A DeKalb County Police Department spokesperson said an investigation into the teen’s disappearance is “ongoing and active,” according to PEOPLE.
“The investigation is ongoing and active. As with any missing child case in our community, our officers are searching diligently to bring Amy home,” the spokesperson told the outlet.
Rutledge also had a message for her missing stepdaughter.
“Amy, we love you, we miss you, we want you here. That’s why you’re here. I love you, my girl, you’re my person. I miss you. Please come back. Please let us know you’re okay if you can. Be safe. Fight hard. Fight hard,” she told 11Alive.
