A 1-year-old in Texas was rushed to the hospital on New Year’s Eve after he was shot in the head during a drive-by shooting, authorities said.
The incident occurred Sunday at about 7 p.m. when officers in Mesquite responded to reports of a shooting, according to a report.

While answering that call, another person in the same area also called in to report a shooting, Mesquite Police Department spokesman Brandon Ricketts said.
Officers answering that call discovered the infant with a “minor wound” to the head and the boy’s 28-year-old father with a wound to his neck, the report noted.
The injuries were attributed to a drive-by shooting that wounded the pair while they were inside a home, police said.
The infant received a “grazing” wound, but neither he nor his father suffered any life-threatening injuries.
