Talk show hosts from The View suggested that Nikki Haley appear on the program to defend her recent comments on racism.

The former ambassador to the United Nations recently claimed during a television interview that the United States is not and has “never been a racist country.” This followed a previous statement Haley made surrounding the Civil War, in which she failed to mention it began as a result of slavery, but she has since walked back that comment.

The View already addressed the comment during an episode that featured Vice President Kamala Harris. However, Haley stood by her comments during her town hall in New Hampshire on Thursday, which prompted another discussion.

Host Ana Navarro said the comment bothers her, while Sunny Hostin said Americans are still fighting to save “this country from the scourge of racism.” Even Alyssa Farrah Griffin said she thought Haley’s “answer was beyond insufficient — it just wasn’t accurate.”

When host Sarah Haines disagreed with her fellow hosts bashing Haley, Navarro made a suggestion for the presidential candidate.

“You know what, I think we should give her the same airtime we gave Kamala Harris,” Navarro said. “if she wants to come here and she wants to explain to me America has never been racism [sic].”

“I’d be happy to chat with her,” Hostin said, but fellow host Joy Behar scoffed at the idea.

“She’s not coming,” Behar said. “I bet she doesn’t come here.”

The Washington Examiner reached out to Haley’s campaign for comment. No other current presidential candidate has appeared on The View so far.
