The View mocks rumors of Taylor Swift being a government psyop

The View hosts mocked rumors that singer Taylor Swift is a psyop for the government.

The hosts of the talk show were discussing a segment from Fox News host Jesse Watters, during which he stated the Pentagon‘s psychological operations unit “floated turning Taylor Swift into an asset” around four years ago. Watters also cited how Swift once shared a social media post encouraging her fans to register to vote and wondered “who got to her from the White House or from wherever.”

“I have to say, when we talk about snowflakes, they always talk about ‘you people worry about the weirdest stuff!” The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg said. “She got people to go out and vote, including, probably, all kinds of people that you’d rather have not voting.”

Fellow co-host Sunny Hostin theorized that conservatives initially thought Swift “was their princess,” as Swift started as a country musician from Tennessee. Hostin noted that since Swift started her music career, however, she has advocated various liberal viewpoints, suggesting that “the Jesse Watterses of the world” selected “the wrong princess.”

Co-host Joy Behar joked that conservatives’ “princess” is Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

In the wake of Watters’s segment, a spokesperson from the Pentagon issued a statement about the conspiracy theories regarding its connection to Swift, saying it would simply “shake it off.”
