Three members of Congress who stand to benefit more than anyone from a Trump reelection

With former President Donald Trump being the favorite in the 2024 GOP presidential primary and leading President Joe Biden in head-to-head general election polls, several members of Congress are hoping Trump can win the presidency for their own sake.

The former president has received dozens of endorsements from sitting GOP members of Congress, with several of them likely benefiting if Trump makes a return to the White House. Here are three Republican lawmakers who would benefit more than most from a second Trump term.

OATH OF OFFICE: BIDEN TOOK OUT TRUMP ONCE, BUT DID HE RESTORE THE ‘SOUL OF THE NATION’?

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH)

Jordan is the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and has been a staunch supporter of Trump during his time in the White House and after Trump lost the 2020 election. He has also helped lead House investigations into the Biden family. Jordan won the endorsement from Trump in the House speaker race after Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was ousted in October.

The Ohio Republican would be “Trump’s enforcer,” according to Axios, and would be part of a key group of Republicans in Congress pushing the former president’s agenda if he wins back the White House.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY)

Stefanik was Trump’s pick for House Republican Conference chairwoman after the House GOP ousted then-Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) from the position in May 2021. He called her a “tough and smart communicator” in a statement at the time and helped her win the role.

She has returned the favor to Trump for helping her win a leadership position by endorsing him days before the former president announced his 2024 bid in November 2022. The New York Republican would likely see her stock rise even further under a Trump second term, and she has been rumored to be on Trump’s short list of candidates to run with him as his vice president.

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH)

Vance was Trump’s pick in the 2022 Ohio Senate race and has been one of his top allies in the upper chamber since taking office earlier this year. The Senate GOP is less friendly to Trump than the House GOP, but under a second Trump term, the Ohio Republican would likely see elevated status for pushing the former president’s agenda.

The Ohio Republican has also reportedly been considered for a position in a possible Trump administration. Vance sidestepped when asked last week if he would take a vice president slot from the former president.
