Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) said Tuesday that he will promote the Biden administration’s accomplishments as part of his campaign for a third term in 2024.
Kaine quickly shut down CNN host Kasie Hunt when she asked if he had any concerns about President Joe Biden’s ability to run his 2024 campaign and serve a second term in the White House.

“I’m going to be a ticketmate of Joe Biden ‘cause I’m running in Virginia in 2024, and I am planning on running a very vigorous campaign promoting what the Biden administration has done,” Kaine said.
The 2016 Democratic vice presidential nominee touted the “historic infrastructure bill and other accomplishments — manufacturing, veterans, gun safety” and said he expects the president to continue the trend of winning electoral votes in Virginia.
Those comments come a week after a Messenger-HarrisX poll showed that two-fifths of Democratic voters think Biden should not run for a second term. The same poll found that former President Donald Trump would defeat his successor by a 47%-40% margin if the election were held that day.
Hunt asked Kaine if he thought Biden could lose to Trump next year, to which he responded that it is possible.
“There’s no reason to be complacent in a nation that is divided like the U.S. is,” Kaine said.

Kaine cited a “really successful election night in Virginia” for the Democratic Party earlier this month, but he acknowledged that it only meant narrow two-vote majorities in both houses.
“You can’t take anything for granted,” Kaine said. “I know that’s the way the Biden campaign will view this race, and that’s the way I view it too.”
