Strong storms that generated at least three known tornadoes ripped through multiple counties in Mississippi, causing damage to approximately 500 houses, trees to uproot and at least 17 people to be injured, according to officials.
No deaths have been reported since the twisters tore through the southwest portion of the state late Wednesday evening, per Scott Simmons via the Associated Press, who is a Mississippi Emergency Management Agency spokesperson. Simmons stated that 12 of the individuals that were injured in a Bogue Chitto trailer park that was hit hard in Lincoln County were transported, around one hour south of Jackson.
The majority of the two dozen houses that were located at Gene’s Mobile Home Supply were completely destroyed, with boards and metal laying everywhere with the houses being flattened. Thursday morning, people were picking through the debris, utilizing chain saws with cloudy skies above them.

Gov. Tate Reeves published online, “Pray for Mississippi,” stating that the Emergency Management Agency was organizing efforts to respond, per the Associated Press.
According to Reeves, a rescue group of volunteers had provided a shelter pod that fits 50 people, a generator that is high-powered and a total of 10 pallets full of supplies to Lincoln County, which had at least 200 houses that were damaged.
Per the state emergency management agency, Lamar County reported that damage was caused to 275 houses. Lawrence County experienced 10-12 damaged homes.
