A church in Tennessee is trying to figure out what possessed a man to ignite a trailer filled with Bibles on fire in front of the house of worship on Easter Sunday.

Greg Locke, the pastor of Global Vision Bible Church in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, said on social media that at around 6 a.m., the man drove his trailer to the church and then blocked the roadway before torching the books of scripture.

“There was a lady that had driven through the night to get to our church and she was in the parking lot and was able to get the police officers here quickly, but it was quite the scene to wake up to on my first morning back from Israel,” Locke wrote in a post on Facebook. “Had to block traffic in all directions but they are almost finished cleaning it up. It’s going to be a great day in the Lord.”

The Mt. Juliet Police Department and the Mt. Juliet Fire Department both responded to the trailer fire, with the latter acting swiftly to put it out. The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office has since taken control of the investigation.

Specific details regarding this investigation cannot be shared with the public, though the sheriff’s office has stated that new details will be shared “at the appropriate juncture.”

“We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the community during this period,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook. “The safety and security of our residents remain our utmost priority.”
